After the Austin update my website rankings vanished from google serp's. Initially i panicked and started cutting down on keyword density, adding new content etc, but after a month or two i didn't see any improvements, so i decided to stop trying to optimise my website in order to rank in google.

Luckily for me Yahoo started using their index and my site started ranking for several competitive keywords/ keyword phrases.

I think there was a mini-update a few weeks back which resulted in my website rankings returning to the google serp's and doing better than ever before(several top 10 rankings).

Has any one else that was booted during Florida or Austin seen their sites return and improve in rankings.

Yes. My main site got dumped then got back in at number one for my big word and it has several top ten places. I think that this was mainly due to my efforts during its absense.

I had a site booted during the Florida update. I decided not to make any changes to the site and sit back to see what happens. The site originally ranked #1 for some fairly competative key phrases. The site came back about a month and a half later, still ranked #1. And it also picked up #2. The difference in the #1 and #2 position is odd though. The #1 position is linked as [mydomain.com...] and the #2 postion is linked as [mydomain.com...] The site is framed and I have javascript to load the frames if any of the framed pages are accessed. I find this ineteresting. The main page's title that defines the frame is different then the main content page's title.

I guess it was a bonus!

BeeDee,
What were your efforts that you attribute your return to?

All I did was concentrate on all the usual things such as title and anchor text. I also added new content and played around with the page titles. To be fair there was a suggestion at the time that my problem may have been partly due to the fact that I had linked to a bad neighbourhood.

While my site was gone I spent many hours adding new content, tweaking and improving it. Since it came back in May I have held the number one position for the main KW. Long may it continue!
