I was wondering what was up with google today. Earlier I noticed that they were running the Athens 2004 Volleyball picture. Now I get it, must have been getting ready to switch to the birthday pic ;) Nice touch, Congratulations!

I was wondering about the Athens volleyball logo too? However, on my Mac, the birthday logo is a no show. Big red X where the logo should be! Anyway ... happy birthday Google! Its been an amazing 6 years! :)

While I was at Archive.org recently, I came across this first snapshot of Google: [web.archive.org...] Times have changed... they went from a "might work some of the time prototype" to a 27 billion dollar company.

I received 6 candle like cookies from Google. I didn't notice the logo change until I received them by Fedex... nice touch for clients. I asked our affiliate program manager to do a similar thing for our 10th anniversary.

Are they saving a monster update for their birthday present? Or maybe their going to give all the webmasters who go to their party a slice of PR to put with their party hat in a little bag to take home?

thanks Zipper btw, I just noticed I am now a Junior Member, not a New User anymore. I am touched by the honor ;) Hope to be a Full Member soon. Also, Google seems to have partied too much last nite and forgoten to update the images: main page: back to normal [google.ca ] search page: still the 6 year bday pic [google.ca ] its funny when a corporation worth as much as GM has trouble updating their site. Makes me feel so much more normal and less lazy.

Can anyone explain why it isn't also Google's birthday in Ireland? My home page is google.ie, and I don't see the birthday graphic?

rfgdxm1,The logo was there 2 days ago. It is no longer on google.ie, nor is it on my google.com. I have no idea why not. <off-topic>Does your google.ie always work okay? When I enter a query and tick one of the options, "Search the web" or "pages from Ireland", it works alright. However, in the results page, it doesn't retain the option chosen in the radio button. I assumed that if I had chosen "pages from Ireland" and entered a query, and then reformulated the query within the results page, it would show me results from Ireland as with the first query. It resets it to search from "the web", which is annoying as it doesn't do this with Google.es etc. Once you tick the option, it keeps it until you change it. Just interested to know if you've noticed the same thing.</off-topic> Kind Regards PBG
