Google PR -- Next Update?
lgood123

msg:106224

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to the forum and this is probably an old question, but it seems that google has not done a pr update in at least 2 months. Is this correct and does anybody know what is going on? Is there about to be a major change in how google calculates pr as well as the frequency?

I have not experienced a PR update nor have I seen a change in the SERPS in about 2 months.

The backlinks have changed, however.

Welcome to WW lgood123!

I'm not sure what's afoot, but I can't remember G ever doing 2 backlinks updates without a PR update somewhere in between, but that's exactly where we stand.

By my reckoning, we're at least a week overdue. There is no exact, set schedule, so I'm just going by memory. With the IPO debacle (that's what it looks like to me) going on, I am not yet ready to suggest that there is some technical reason for the missed update. It may even be that after so many missteps, including the issues yesterday with adsense, they are just waiting for the dust to settle.

Or it could be that they are writing a new PR indicator retrival formula for the Google Toolbar since the current code is released in Open source,

Been waiting to see this thread start up. I'm dying here, cough, cough, - the only cure is to see my new PageRank.

What the heck is the hold up!?

Never mind the PR update I want a sandbox/quarantine/lag time update. In days of old they came between the PR updates.

Yes, Google has updated pagerank internally (my website is performing again as a PR5 and other pages as PR4... daily crawls are the answer instead of the 15 day crawls of PR3...)

Please Google show us more (or less) green in the almighty toolbar!

my directory pagerank value is my old site page rank value (now it should be higher)
i've seen than a lot of big website have a lower page rank than now..
[directory.google.com...]

here statcounter have pr8 but in the toolbar it have pr10 ,

my counter was pr5, now it's pr6 but in the next update it should be pr7 ... but google directory show pr5 like pr6 :( (there is no difference in the size of green bar.. 22X18)

conclusion: i think than the directory pagerank is old PR value for someone and new for someother.

i would like to know the url of the sites that have pr7 on google directory and pr0 in the toolbar (probably it only was penalized by google manually and the directory don't take care about manual penalization..)

Directory PR has not changed for me. PR should definitely be increasing with this update, and there is no indication of that in directory.

Just for interests sake, I put up some new pages last week linked from a pr6 page and 3 pages immediately showed pr5.I don't know how it happened and why only 3 out of the 15 I put up but the pr is still showing 1 week later.Weird.

Cabbie,

That's interesting indeed. We've seen some shifts of maybe up one or down one when no one else was getting updated but not a full jump like that.

GG used to hint "3 months"; if that's true, then around 2nd or 3rd week of September 04.

I have still yet to see any PR updates to any of my sites. Last month it was about a week late the dance could it just be getting less frequent?
