Even more surprised to see no mention of this: [webmasterworld.com...] hmmm, aren't most bloggers free and open linkers?

*edit: Question removed by amznVibe!* Reference to the Poisoned Chalice scene in "The Princess Bride" (one of the best kids/adult movies ever! ;) "I have spent 6 years building up an immunity to Iocaine....." etc etc

WebmasterWorld not mentioned? Hmmm! Maybe they're into reciprocal linking or better yet don't want to promote any particular forum or URL on their blog. ;)

| Of course, I had to have an online nickname. What if I got sick, or needed to take a break? I needed a handle that someone else could step into if necessary. |
| He's like Lassie... they just put out ver 1.2 and don't tell anyone. So far it's seemed like just the one GoogleGuy; if he ever shows up again, I'll be looking closely to see if he gets p*ssed off in the same ways as before. That's how we'll know. Imho, it's a bit shoddy him not recognizing his roots at WW. He could have at least alluded to it somehow.

| I'm reasonably confident he would have liked to. He put a very "human face" on Google and became one of my favorite members. Every week I see a new news story about someone suing Google, so I'm betting Google policies have changed out of a need to protect themselves. Given a choice between a career I thoroughly enjoyed or doing something that conflicted with my employeer's policies (posting in or about a particular forum perhaps? ;) ), I'd choose the career. I think most of us would. I was pleased to notice a post from GG made in the last day or two. He IS still lurking about! :)

I really doubt he would want to link here, most of the posts are pretty negative about google serps/index/ipo,etc... Besides, maybe he already gave Brett his props with some of those illegal stock options!

| Yeah, man. He's a cool guy and I meant no disrespect. It's good to hear that he is still lurking about, even if he's not posting often. Let's hope that Google still cares about having a "human face" as part of their future plans and that we see more of him. (I don't believe for a moment that GG would try to fob things onto a new GG without telling us... we'd all know.)

| WebmasterWorld not mentioned? Hmmm! |
| Yes but he did mention he has made around 2,000 posts in forums; 2395 of those 2,000 have been here plus those in the huge update threads of 2003 which don't count.

I was wondering if the picture of the guy on the archived page is a picture of Googleguy.

More than likely, it was a political reason that prevented the link. But, yea, for the most part, bloggers will link to anything ;).
