Hi, Me and some friends have same problem and it is not a penalty if your subpages still have pr and cached.... and please check your admin or webmaster mail account if you have cause your enemy has requested "url-remove" index file from google and google sent auto message that index file removed..etc So it seems a big problem cause this person can do whatever he wants about removing index file from google and Google shuold find a solution for it.. I hope GoogleGuy can read this message and google can do some immediately.. We have to protect our sites from this kind of problems.. By the way only index.html has been removed and subpages have pagerank and cached and they are on listing of google.. P.S. robot.txt was not in my directory... Samuel_Ado

Hi Zaneta, I think you have received a message from url-remove@google.com --------------- The following urls/messages have been removed. Please contact googlebot@google.com if you do not approve: www.yourdomain.com/index.htm NOINDEX ---------------- and as you see ; Please contact googlebot@google.com if you do not approve: But have to find a solution for this kind of attack cause i didn't apply "url-remove" and probably you were either.. and who and how can do it? that's the problem... there is not robots.txt and no meta tags about removing url... I am waiting for a reply from google and i will post when i have samuel_ado

Thank you, Yes i got these emails too. But how can they do this. This is really too bad. I have too many domains, they did this for all. Now should i email for each? and what kind of thing is this? "Please contact googlebot@google.com if you do not approve:" It means that, If you do not approve, you will loose money for nothing. I think at least google should ask for confirmation. Google should really find the solution. Thanks again.

Dear feelfree, good morning to Istanbul! I am just about to reply to the removal message google has sent me. If I understood you right, its the only thing I can do right now, and then I just need to wait for an automatic re-position of my webpages in google. Please suggest me whether I can do more about it, like sending other email messages to google or so. Thank you

can you do something for check..? look at your meta tags for: <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> or <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> and post here if they have been added or are present? also... do you have a robots.txt file? does it say something like: User-agent: * Disallow: / or... what does it say? the file will be in the root of your site, or at the level affected

hi vincevincevince, exactly noooo no meta tags and no robots.txt that's why it is very serious still working and removing index pages (especially web-sites for <snip>) he/she is using webmaster@yrdomain.com e-mail account to apply remove-url but i really do not understand how she/he can do that cause there is no robots.txt in my root and no meta tags ; <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> or <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> i think techs of google has to review what is going on and VERY SERIOUS SITUATION at the moment.. too many people around here is in trouble because of that [edited by: Brett_Tabke at 1:39 pm (utc) on May 5, 2004] [edit reason] please - no keywords or specific searches [/edit]

Hi vincevincevince, Thank you but the problem is not what you said. Our meta tags are ok and our robots.txt is fine. Google removed about 8 of my websites in different servers. And it is still deleting. It sends us emails for every url. Somehow, someone can delete without permission on our websites. Someone hacked google. I can sticky you my domains and you can see robots.txt and meta tags. But be sure that we are 3-4 webmasters have this problem, and we are operating more than 50 websites on different server. We all didnt make this simple mistake. Someone attacking us and succeed. And google let this happen. Regards.

have you checked the ip from the headers from the email to ensure that it did in fact originate from google? perhaps someone 3rd party is doing something more offensive and sends out fraudulent google emails in order to cover their tracks and put the focus on google? look out for any other methods you know of... especially duplication?

Same goes here, I dont have neither "ROBOT" Meta Tags nor a robots.txt file in our root directory- or any of our directories. So I also feel that a sort of an attack must have occured. Let us see what google will do about it, and good luck to everybody.

Vincevincevince, This is not a hack for sure. There are so many affected sites and most of them are on separate server. I can quickly list here 50 sites here and all have teh same problem. Subpages are still in the index but homepage is nowhere. The only relation between these sites is they were high ranked sites, mostly in top10-top20. Google is trying to arrange a new dimension of penalty I believe and unfortunately we don't have any clue what's the real subject to this penalty.

Anyone can send an email from webmaster@yourdomain as thats quite easy to do, but I presume they still had to prove to google their alledged status: "Except in instances involving legal issues or spam, Google's policy for removing a page from our index requires that we obtain the permission of that page's webmaster. This prevents competitors from sabotaging each other's listings. Please have the webmaster for the page in question contact us with proof that he/she is indeed the webmaster. This proof must be in the form of a root level page on the site in question, requesting removal from Google. Once we receive the URL that corresponds with this root level page, we will remove the offending page from our index. For more information on this process, please see [google.com...] "

Hi all, Just another point: I have checked some <snip> sites about <snip> and found several affected too. Still I don't believe this is done by a 3rd person. Why? Just check your homepage rank like: [xyz-domain.com...] or [xyz-domain.com...] You'll see it has still page rank 5,6 or whatever. So your index file is still ranked by google, it's clear enough. What is not ranked is your domain: [xyz-domain.com...] and nobody can do this by sending a remove request to Google, no way! This is definetely Google doing all this trouble and still we're waiting at least an answer. I must admit that the headers do seem to check with the emails sent from the google url removal service, although proxy.google.com also works for wap and other similar service proxies... so if i sent mail through the google proxy via wap i guess it would come from that IP?

hi Senkron, Yes you are right when u write [mydomain.com...] then you can see pr5 or whatever but without cached snapshot of page.. you said that this is not available doing by 3rd person but we have received same mail and it is coming when you request url-remove..etc and it was affected mostly Istanbul and Turkey sites.. why not for others? do you still believe that Google is the actor of this problem?

Hi Samuel, The emails that you're receiving is not enough to remove any of your page from the Google index. This mail is only another proof that Google is trying to put new filter for certain pretentious sites. Most probably their effort has triggered a similar mechanism of page remove request and you all had these mails by mistake. This is very clear that such a "perfect hack" can not be done simultaneously with hundred different sites on hundred different servers. I'm pretty sure Google is the only responsible of all this nightmare. And do you know how I can prove this: I claim we will not have any explaination from Google and this will show clearly who is responsible. Just wait and see! Actually I would prefer beeing hacked instead of being penalized! I don't know why Google is choosing harder way, I mean just change everything up and down. Actually Alta Vista did this type mistakes 4-5 years ago and we know the result. I'm afraid against Yahoo pressure, Google is also moving wrong cards.

it is really interesting if google is doing... i wish not to believe that google is done but there was not a reason to remove "only index page"... and as you see Turkish web-sites had this problem.. what do you think about it? is it a special filter for us? i think you had this problem 4 or 5 days ago and you haven't received any news from google? i just get lost my index today, have sent mail to google but no reply till now.. by the way there is not a comment from moderators, GoogleGuy...etc ... are they sleeping? or they don't care :o( hope we can find a solution...
