Google Counting Links from Same URL?

I don't know if someone noticed it, but it seems like Google is counting as a valid backlinks the links from a page to itsef: Put on page www.server.com/page1.html link to that same page - www.server.com/page1.html and name it as you wish. On a next update check the results - they are better. I noticed that on a non-english searches. Any ideas?

I've never seen Google count a link from a URI to itself. I say URI, as a URL can self link; eg. http:www.example.com/page.html could link to https:www.example.com/page.html

Google's behaviour for self backlinks changed some month ago. Until this time, no self backlinks were shown. However, so far it isn't clear if just the the behaviour of the link command was changed or if they are (now) counted for PR and incoming anchor text, respectively.

Recently, there was a discuission about this topic: Self backlink
