Very nicely done. And I shall be flying today too :-)
Kudos to you, DerekH! Piloting or just sitting back and being a passenger? 100 years of flight is pretty wild. I heard a story of a 94 (?) year old flight instructor in Tennessee. That's quite cool in my book..
It never ceases to amaze me at how well they can incorporate the letters of the word "Google" into a picture.
We should also be seeing the holiday doodle soon too :)

Sitting back being a passenger!
I did pilot a light plane ten years ago and it was simply wonderful.
This time, though - it's for pleasure - to meet an old friend some distance away - first time in 5 years.
By the way - do thank the logo artists in your team - we always say how nice the Google logos are, but I think we forget the hard work and long hours that make them so effortlessly stylish!
Dennis rulez! Allo, Dennis!
<GoogleGuy realizes that slaphappiness comes from sleepiness, and trundles off to bed>
That's the 100th anniversary of powered, controlled flight.
There's been people flying in balloons for over 200 years.
Gliders go back nearly as far.
Two small things.
1. GoogleGuy is there only one person in charge of doing all those great logos, or is there a group?
2. Thanks victor for that link.
Another interesting link, Victor, at [news.bbc.co.uk...]
I wonder if Google has any plans for a 'Florida Update' logo. If so, I wonder what it might look like...think bubble..o0o0
He might get a little help from time to time, but it's pretty much just Dennis. superscript, not sure what Florida has to do with the logo?
Thanks for the links takagi. For anyone who reads this tomorrow here's the logo [google.com], and previous logos [google.com].
> pretty much just Dennis
Well he's certainly done a lot of good for Google's image. The little things really do make a difference.
superscript, you need a holiday. :-)
It would be neet to have that job!
Wild--I think Dennis was on NPR's Talk of the Nation yesterday to talk about Google Doodles. :)
Here's the link:
Go Dennis! It's your, um, doodle-day!
The flight motif is gone, and it's been replaced by a penguin wiedling a hammer, and the digits 2004.
Only the 00 of 2004 is clearly shown as two raised lavatory seats, carved from ice.
Okay, so the symbolism is obvious, but what's the real meaning?
Are they late with it? Didn't notice it yesterday.
Nopers, not late, it was there early on yesterday
[ducks and dodges the lav seat observation... I dun't
wanna think about those traces of visible color within
> Nopers, not late, it was there early on yesterday
In the US? This would explain why I didn't see it from my place in the morning.
