>> Napoleon Are you talking about PR0? << No. It;s just a search in directory is nothing like it used to be. It seems to be the same as the main Google search now. Very strange. >> so most data should be incorporated within 3-4 days I would guess << I wouldn't depend on significant changes. I think the changes here (falling key term index pages at the expense of big site inner pages) are more fundamental.

Napolean, I noticed the directory search results returning normal search results days ago - maybe close to a week ago. Mel has been seeing odd things with those results too - such as changing on refresh.

I have done some testing and it looks like lists of links are not completly worthless or at least don't hurt you. That is what I thought at first. What does seem to be the case is same class C crosslinking. I don't think it is a ban as much as it had some value before and now it does not.

It does appear that our main sites, where content has always been the main area of improvement and work (rather than reciprocal links) are doing very well - seems good to me but maybe too early to get the champagne out.

I just had a horrible thought. What if what we are seeing is the result of Google applying a 'localrank' algo and these results are here to stay? But it's a horrible thought ;)

We have been told that it will be 3 or 4 days before we see the end of the Florida update and I have been noticing that the -in datacenter has been showing different results for two days and the directory has been a bit wonky for two days also. I would hazard a guess that this is a major change but I don't think we can see more than a hazy outline of the final results right now. I think I'll go anethesize myself and try to sleep through the next couple of days, otherwise I'll sit here all day and night trying to figure out Googles next move andwhat GGs cryptic comments mean. :-)

Something strange happening at one of my sites: Googlebot crawls pages that I put online 4h ago, in some kind of deep-crawl rage. This (4h!) has never happened before for this site. Anyone else noticing sudden deep-crawls?

I may be way off here, but some of the poor results seem to be corrolated back to the Google/ODP directory... On my end, the Google directory has now reverted back to the old data from last April. At least three sites I know of in my relevant category that are goners as of this morning are not in the Google directory as of today (but did finally show up two weeks ago when the Google directory *seemed* to finally update.) A possible connection here?

I wrote back a few pages ago my keyword pages have been replaced in this order: 1.) message board spam [widget company A ] 2.) message board spam [widget company A] 3.) 1 page website with 10 crossed keyword links at the bottom going to 10 other 1 page sites. [widget company B] 4.) widget company B same thing different domain 1 page site 5.) widget company B same thing different domain 1 page site 6.) widget company B same thing different domain 1 page site All black hat all 1 thru 6. My site is gone... I had 100 pages of original content and articles. I just got off phone yesterday with a major magazine that called and did a phone interview with me about my site and asking to use content in their next article. Kinda hard to remain positive and not Black Hat when you play by the rules bust your butt and end up losing. Can anyone explain how spam and these people are 1 thru 6? Google guy are you out there?

Besides my home page missing, I would have to say I think this is the best update ever. Even though I have gone down in the SERPS, I noticed whoever was cheating, are gone. Whoever was cloaking, using hidden text, gone. I would love to get my index page back where it belongs, and when I do, I am going to kick some *ss! jd

>> I'm puzzled. Does this dance mean that Google is back to regular Dances instead of the constant update? Only Google and Time can tell. I doubt Google will. (Google Guy want to prove me wrong and tell us?) So we can only wait for time. BUT I doubt we're back to monthly updates. Google probably has implemented a new item that required a 'ground up' approach and then we'll be back to constant updates until the next item that requires a 'ground up' to get started.
