No more Google SafeSearch for Germany?
Result of the Edelman report?

I can't for the life of me see any option to filter adult content on Google.de anymore. It used to be in the same place, Preferences (=Einstellungen) as on Google.com - no more.

Might this be a consequence of the Edelman reports,
[cyber.law.harvard.edu...]
specifically:
[asp-cyber.law.harvard.edu...]

Those reports, demonstrating how badly working algos filtered out tons of legitimate sites, among them the site of the Israelian Primeminister, have produced some negative comments in the german press.

Not sure if this helps, but if you set the language to English (hl=en) you can still set the filter options at google.de and it does seem to have some effect.

True, Damian. The funny thing is I can set the filters when accessing the english language preferences page, and they carry through when I change back the interface language to german. But when I try to change back the settings I can't do that with a german interface.
So effectively 99% of all german Google users can not use a SafeSearch. Kids, families etc: no flter available.
