|Advice on redirecting home page to a subdirectory|
Will it affect rankings, indexing, etc?
| 4:12 pm on Aug 17, 2003 (gmt 0)|
I have a site at www. .com. A few months ago, I redesigned the site and made it forum&sql based. I placed the root of the forum in a subdirectory called 'forums'.
My main page at www. .com is now basically unneeded. It is just there with a link to the subdirectory and a few other things on it (nothing really useful).
I don't want to redo the whole forum and put it in the root directory. I would rather just 301 redirect the www. .com to www. .com/forums
My site is currently indexed well and both www. .com and www. .com/forums have a toolbar PR of 4. www. .com has more backlinks, though. 24-3 in that department.
Will I experience any google search result related problems if I do the redirect?
