AW, I had a brand new site go live at the very beginning of March and it's not hurting at all. On another older one though, some changes were made around that time and it's been up and down like an elevator since then.

For existing already indexed pages I have not seen major position changes due to new backlinks for the last 10 days or so, before that approx. twice every 5 days (all only due to new backlinks).

By any chance, is there any speculation floating around that backlinks are being calculated practically on the fly?

Plenty. <EDITED> Marcia, are you thinking that the backlink calculation is happening now and the results are therefore unstable as used to be the case right after a dance? TJ
