E. forgive me if this post is not relevant; despite searching i haven't been able to figure out what "Dominic" is. But a week or so ago my site (aprx 10 mos old) got crushed. Is that "Dominic" and do I gather it may be temporary?
12:41 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
"and do I gather it may be temporary?"
I do believe most of 'us' hope so... :)

Yes, the updates now carry names and the last one was Dominic. And... no one, it seems knows what to make of the results of this update thus far.
The advice (still) is, keep building good sites and they will come. Eventually.

Build it and they will come.....
12:46 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
I'd have to say "c".
One of my bigest annoyances re Dominic would be that two of my pages (one new, one months old) lost their page rank completely, my main page rank actually increased.
12:49 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
I've said it elsewhere .... "what update". I'll pick (c).
12:53 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
c) About the same
12:57 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
One site went from #1 to page 3... Overall, current top ranking sites are junk...
2:06 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
One site went from 4 to 2.. (GREAT!) New site dropped back off the face of the earth.. :( Patiently awaiting inclusion of new sites! C'mon Google! Love ya - but c'mon already!
2:10 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
My site has dropped much lower. I was previously in the first 10 results! Any news?
2:13 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
Same for old site.
New site: e
2:51 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
c - keyphrases have changed but overall visitors have increased.
2:52 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
b) for four of my sites
d) for one

gained some. lost others. overall seems to be breakeven.
3:35 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
and traffic is down but sales (bottom line for me) are about the same as before dominic

two spam sites I set up in December (and did very well then) are now doing great biz - thanks!
The kosher sites I've had running (good content, etc) have sucked over the last six weeks.
The site I set up, 5 weeks ago, to test if google is really doing phrase searching, interesting results. Of course due to the TOS I won't tell you what that site id, but if I wanted to know how to cook on a norfolk broads boat I might see some strange results.

c) about the same

"E" for my top, competitive single-word keywords. (I went from a top 3 position on page 1 to somewhere around page 7.) Ever since Dominic update began mydomain.com is no longer searchable in Google but my PR5 stayed constant. As of today, however, I suddenly have a white bar with PR0. I am not too worried about it (so far) because most of my competitors also are not searchable by theirdomain.com and the majority also have white bar PR0 suddenly today. (I believe them to be clean sites just like mine and I don't buy into this semi-penalty theory.) The fact that most of my competitors are experiencing the same phenomena at least gives me the feeling that I am not being singled out for some sort of punishment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll soon see light at the end of this tunnel. I see some movement in the SERPS every day so change is definitely afoot.

B & C for my older sites
D & E for my newest sites
7:16 am on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
Based on traffic from Google, not rankings, or other SE positions:
a) for sites 1998 to 12/2002
c) for sites 1/2003 & 2/2003
d) for sites 3/2003
e) for sites early 4/2003
Anything after 4/11/03 is totally hit and miss for Google, but Inktomi likes them:)

1 year old site - C
Early April new site - E then improved last Sunday to a D when it's rankings shot up.
Apparently myself and makemetop were about the only ones to get on Sunday's "new site inclusion list".
You really can't read too much into my results just yet though because both sites average <100 uniques a day.

Same here, the world may never know.
It does seem that their system is kinda UN-FARE , they say it's not their fault, that the system automatically does stuff like that.
Well who programmed it to throw certain sites out , when these sites have seemingly no problems and conform to their rules and are still throne out .
hmmm, something's fishy! O WELL , there's always more than one way to skin a cat.
wow, what the f... I thought I was posting a response to the 2nd page, SORRY.
This post pertains to wy google throes out certain sites but not others.

My site dessapeared around 2/3 weeks ago and after contacting Google they confirm site was banned but they also confirmed that they will look back as for my request of reinclusion
My site was not were to be found in any of the databases even typing its url
Its only a few minutes ago when I realise that is a new datacentre www-fi and just out of curiosity I type my url and there it was my website
I them comeback to all other datacentres and the same search produces no results.
Then I come back to www-fi just a few minutes after my successfull search and the same search this time produces no result - ie my site is not in the index
So my question is
Is this good news and it may mean that my site is going to be re-indexed when this settles down?
Is it possible that when I found my site on the index this was just a reflection of the past, ie, before my site got banned?
I hope my question make sense and I do thanks in advance for any possible answers

With the current state of the update and datacenters, your guess is just about as good as anybody elses on this board.

1) While starting a new treads, try to think of a title and descrition that gives clues about topic. You might get better responses that way.
2) Relax 2 hours a day, get links 2 hours a day, and sleep 2 hours a day, as usual.
3) Forget about any URL, or pagerank, or back links in any datacenters, for any keyphrase at any time, untill you read something new on homepage here about it.
4) Read all previous treads about related topics posted recently this Google News forum, 2 hours a day. Make it part of your job ( yes there are some efforts involved).
5) Please post again if any question.

OK. I get the point.
No polling results for a Google update or the thread will get buried into a thread that has nothing to do with the original intent or subject.
You guys make the rules.

I think google is getting ready to charge a fee for site submission.
3:53 pm on Jun 10, 2003 (gmt 0)
What makes you think that?
So many theories, going round at the minute I'm getting dizzy sick...think I'll hibernate, someone wake me up when Google has returned to relative normality.
