I just checked all 9 datacenters. Only -sj and -fi have the new index.

john, it is better to think on your visitors than to think in google periodicals - if you have to show new relevant information, than you should show it.

My site is showing fresh dates of May 14th on cw, May 13th on www, in, ad, dc, va, ex and zu. No fresh dates on fi, sj, www2 and www3. I had a May 14th fresh date show up on www earlier then I refreshed and it went back to May 13th.

Anyone has that site appear, disappear, appear, disappear ... with the FI and CW index (for certain keywords, esp top keywords)?

Can anyone tell if PageRank has been updated this month yet? I'm seeing the same PR as last month on all my sites (that I have checked), so it appears that it hasn't been updated yet.

I notice a change in PR, however it is not stable yet. Does anyone else notices it? Also, i do not see any changes in the backlinks yet.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thank You.

Tejas:

Yes, I'm seeing new PR values on sites that have been around, and PR for the first time on brand newish sites that were deep crawled last time around... How nice!

If you keep refreshing your sites, you'll eventually get your new pagerank value. All my sites have gone back to exactly the same pagerank as two months ago. Presumably because, as mentioned in other threads, google is counting the links from that time.

Steveb,

I am thinking along the same lines as you are.

First off, when judging the new algo it is useful to compare the results from fi to the results from February because this is when the backlink data are from. This being said, I am seeing much poorer results on almost every single category I follow. Even sites that are without question the definitive resource (like actual product brand) seem to have fallen dramatically in the new algo.

The other point that you make is that overusing freshness seems to lead to trashy pages with hardly any "votes". This is a fundamental problem with the new algo.

Lastly, it seems that PR plays less and less of a role as time goes on. I think, overall, this really hurts the quality of results. Because Google ostensibly could not control the manipulation of PR, they have decided to give it much less weight when scoring and it REALLY throws the system out of whack.

At THIS moment, Google shows new results here in Florida. Not sure if it will bounce again to old results or not.

Chicago is still bouncing back to the old results. Earlier it was the sj/fi results. Currently it is the previous www index.

Funny, the "old" index shows pages updated as of May 12. The "new" (sj/fi)index shows my homepage as it appeared in Feb/March. Strange.

I am just now seeing the fi/sj results big time in California. Did about 30 searches. Only one came up with the old index. Evidenced by doing a search at ****. All three columns are the same.

PR just moved from 4 to 0.....

However, Should I panic!

Dont think so, I assume that this is the PR of a couple of months back as my site is only two months old and was a PR0 back before the last update.

GG - if you are about would you say this would be likely and drop a hint along the lines that when backlinks are added then PR ranks may change?

I'm sorry. I'm going crazy. I have this picture in my head of a mental hospital truck pulling my at my house and dragging me away from my computer and I'm screaming, "They were the same I tell you! -fi and www. were the same! Let me go! I'm not insane!"
Anyways, vanishing act. The www. is now showing the old results again. Sorry for the false alarm.

Canada is seeing fi on www 2 out 10 searches.

Interesting to see what happens now. We all have our PR from 2 months ago. Once this settles perhaps they will bring in the rest of th missing stuff.

fi is DEFINITELY coming up on www off and on.

My guess is it will settle with fi results then everything else will be added - the $64,000 question though is when?

johnnstacy1, you're not insane.

www is a bit like a deck of magical cards.
www-sj, www-fi, www-ex and the other datacenters are the individual cards in the magical google deck.

Every time you pick up the deck of cards, i.e., do a search, google shuffles the magical deck.

So, sometimes the top card won't change, but sometimes it does. And Google the Magical can also palm up a different deck that has 51 Aces of Hearts and one Joker whenever he/she/it elects to do so.

I understand why this happens..
link:www.yahoo.com - www. 661,000
link:www.yahoo.com - www-sj. 617,000
link:www.yahoo.com - www2. 617,000
etc.

But can anyone explain why this shows?
link:yahoo.com - www. 661,000
link:yahoo.com - www-sj. 3,150
link:yahoo.com - www2. 3,150
etc.

thanks rd

I think you just described the "new technology". This is exciting. :)
