I would just like share my feelings re the Google update. Feelings that I think we probabaly all share.

There is no doubt that the most important thing for all webmasters is the GOOGLE UPDATE!

Around the 25th of every month we all get the update gitters - for very good reason. We have no idea what new algo will take effect and no idea whether we will even be included. This I have to say is a very disturbing thought!

The gitters in the past have been for more or less 5 days beacsue the upadte for the last 2 years has generally been around the end of the month. During these days my moods are badly affected, I have sleep problems, and my productivity level drops significantly. This is normal after all my livelyhood is determined by the next update - so how the hell can I not let this affect me. Its impossible!

Heres my problem - I have now had the gitters for over 2 weeks as the update is late and now I am not even sure that it will happen this month. If it happens today then will there be another one at the end of the month? If there is no consistancy and no FACTS these gitters may never go away?

What I am trying to say here is that if Google could give us somekind of indication it will make all of our lives a lot less stressful. Whats the big secret about when the update will occurr? If they told us - what harm would be done? All that it will do is RELIEVE us of unnecssary extended stressful periods.

Bottomline - the update has become the one really crucial factor in all of our lives. It is not fair to say that GOOGLE has NO responsibilty to webmasters and that they can do whatever they please whenever they want!

Googleguy does this not make sense?

I must admit I have sleep problems this week too. :)
I wonder if someone else is nervous too about this update?

Our web design team generates around 50 new pages of content every day, Freshbot normally indexes these and they are in the Google listings within 48 hours. Our pages are showing fresh tags on Google for the 8th of April but none of the most recent pages have been added this time. Here's hoping for tomorrow.

And by the way, all you calm people out there leave us worriers alone! This index is the most important one we have ever had due to the number of changes we have made to our sites during the last deep crawl. Just because you don't have to worry about your 5-page-family-photo site doesn't mean the rest of us should keep quiet.

Think before you post internetheaven, and about what you imply.

You may or may not have noticed that most of the experienced and senior members of WW don't get all excitable before the update and post endlessly about 'when is the update?' 'is this the update?' etc etc. and if you think they're calm because their sites aren't important or are "5-page-family-photo site[s]" then you need to think again.

If you worked hard for your site then you should be rewarded when the update comes. So why get worked up about it? Ever heard that patience is a virtue?

I know it's a bit 'tea leaves' when it comes to predicting the google update but I have noticed fresh bot disappear from the logs of a normally very active site..

Anyone else seeing anything similar?

And there are some coffee granules at the bottom of my mug that look to be spelling out 6pm UTC..

Surely not a coincidence?

:)

I've got them switched on - I'm seeing smilies in other posts but in post 7 (above) my smilie looks not graphical.

I'm sure I'm doing something really silly..

Oh yeah, the original post. Freshbot tends to only visit pages a certain depth into your site, and older pages before new pages. It's activity or lack thereof means absolutely nothing in relation to when (and if ;)) the update will occur.

I have to think that Google users must be noticing now that Googleís SERP's are getting far far behind that of MSN. Google still does not have current listings for pages that were put up by us three months ago, while MSN has had them in and highly ranked for over a month now. I have to believe that the Google users to some extent are going to notice. Does anyone else believe this is possible?

p.s. I can't wait to get all the "you anti-Google nazi, show me you swastika" replies.

You dont notice what is not there when you find what you were looking for somewhere else.

I really don't believe the average user notices.
They still get relevant results.
As a matter of fact I work in the web group of a large corporation and I bet a majority of my co-workers don't even realize that google normally updates monthly.
