When is the expected time

When do you expect the next update to begin?

Also, between each update, how many times (on average) does googlebot visit your site?

We have to wonder why Google is acting like Microsoft these days.....
They control 70% of the SE market yet they are the least “fresh”.
I for one started using Google years ago for the simple fact that it was normally fresh and it was a nice clean interface with out the political sales pitch that you get from the others. Now we have Google add words and slow updates.

Looks like the only way your going to get your target market from Google is to pay for key words it’s sad really. Makes me wonder if they slow down the updates to promote keyword sales.

What can we do?

starting to think Google is optimized for the spammer’s and the Deep pocket’s who pay for keywords.

*extremely frustrated*

Watson, are you implying that adwords sell more when updates take longer? (Speak with Monty Python accent.)

GG you're about to make 1/2 the webmasters drunkards waiting for the update!

The other half... well they're on "happy pills" in some psyche ward somewhere! ;)

It's like waiting for an overdue baby. The day you absolutely give up, convinced you are going to carry this little person inside you forever. You have to totally let go of all hope. Then the first twinges of labor begin. Kind of like how those backlinks or serps start jumping about a little.

(added edit) Hmm, at first you wonder if it's false labor, a false alarm. We know about those around here. You just can't believe this is really IT!

So now guys, you understand what it's like. ;)

By a considerable majority, Google updates have taken place between the 20th. and the end of each month since 2000. This suggests that's when Google likes them to occur.

It is quite possible, given how late the last one was and also how late the crawl was after it, we might not see it until at least mid month or later.

okay,

I think I just found something.

what if.....

No but have you ever thought of emailing google and asking politely if they would exchange links with your site? Or better yet calling them? Wow, I'm a genius, nobody has ever thought about this.

*Desperately moans and goes to bed*

The pills are... not.... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Definitely fresh tags are disappearing. This could be a sign the update is approaching. Or, maybe not.

I am beginning to wonder about the big "Yahoo News" if this has any bearing on the update. I hear google and yahoo are not as "united" at this very moment.

Read this page:
[cnn.com...]

Any thoughts?

Watching the results found at
[webmasterworld.com...]

finding that 2nd and 3rd level are showing "no results" for a minute or two, then returning.

Is this a precursor to an update? Any history here?

Yes, I just got the same on 1 and 2. It said that it did not return any results.

It might be the sign of something to come.
