IHT: Being Googled article looks at negative aspects mfagan msg:169843 4:32 am on Mar 24, 2003 (gmt 0) [ ...] iht.com
Other mentioned engines are surprisingly Teoma and Gigablast. Not AlltheWeb, AltaVista, or Inktomi.
Most of the article is the "beware, Google is powerful" dealy and privacy issues, largely from the google-watch.org guy.

I always wonder what other entity that in many cases could be attributed to having 70% market share in their industry, still carries so much sympathy.
As to the 104,000 pages not all being indexed, which other search engine does?

Big doesn't equal bad, so why shouldn't there be sympathy for Google?
But sympathy among webmasters seems to be on the decline anyway...

It's funny. Today everyone hails google as being the most relevant search engine, and as a result has people hording to it in droves. But for the longest time, altavista has that position, then lycos, yahoo, etc.
It's fleeting, and could change over night. The trick would be anticipating the new trends and staying on top of them.
