Google Down
first time I see this happened

I have been searching for a few thoudsands time and today is the first time I see a server error message.

Server Error
The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.
Please try again in a minute or so.

Is it because too many people are checking their new site ranking with the new updated index? :)

What 200+ million queries per day now for G?

So, 35 minutes down time would be roughly 5 million searches evaporating into cyberspace!

psssst, Google Guy,

The three lil pointy things on the end of the long long cord go into those three lil' holes in the wall right next to where you found the cord laying.

Ok, now, so here's ya a deal. Send me a PR 8 link, or two PR 7's and 1 PR6, and well, we'll just keep it our lil' secret who tripped over the cord on his way to the coffee pot. 8^)

Ok.. here is the inside scoop of what happened today... You see google is actually powered by googleguy... He runs on a treadmill which powers all the servers and stuff... well googleguy has been really tired putting in alot of overtime lately with the update, etc etc. Well he shut his alarm clock off today and went back to sleep and google ran out of power :( Once the red lights and sirens went off he jumped on the emergency treadmill that feeds into googleplex and all is well now! :)

Thanks googleguy!

So GoogleGuy, can we have an exclusive on what happened today at Google? The wire services haven't picked it up yet, and we could use the extra traffic! ;)

And now -- let's all take a look into our logfiles to find out how hard the Google brakedown hurt. My "users online" gauge dropped by 60 percent during the outage.

I just hope googleguy brings in a "pinch hitter" to power google so he can rest up for the deep crawl.. I am sure that is draining on him as well.
By the way.. thanks guys.. since I cant check my raw logs for the deep crawl, I am going by your words and this is the *first* time I will have my updates complete and waiting for the googlebot.. its been one hell of a long sleepless 2 weeks getting it all done.. but I am ready! :)

outch. 60% down during 35minutes.
And I thought I was doing good with my 1500 visitors a day. I hardly noticed the traffic difference on my logs.
Jever, I'm worried for you. what would you do if google would go down for a week? declare bankrupcy?

Kinda makes you realise what a terrible hole would be left in the web if it disappeared for good.

I guess this sort fo thing happens to everyone (WebmasterWorld last week, Google this... me... too frequent to mention!).

Me too! Server's are on the other side of the country but I can still hear them groaning under the weight of this months update. I give them 6 hours at best ;)

Glad y'all like the logo :) .. Should I send it to google? Do you think they'd use it for their 500->505 pages ;) (Wouldn't want to offend)

I have not heard a 'peep' from any of the wire services, Google news, or any of the technology news sites about Google being down 50 minutes yesterday. Has anybody seen a news report on what actually happened?
