tfelice, those are pages that we saw but didn't get a chance to crawl. It's normal to have some crawled pages and some uncrawled pages in the index.

Cool, some of my very deep pages are showing as backlinks. I guess my campaign to get some deep links is paying off.

About 20 fewer backlinks to my home page, but the backlink counter seems to vary monthly when it comes to what they count.

Up about 200 total pages for the month, which should be just about right.

I son't worry about the SERPs till at least 3 days in.

Googleguy is the index going to be composed purely of stuff the deep crawl bot found, or are the results of the freshbot going to be added in as well. I noticed a patent application from google that says they plan on calculating PR on the fly... So i was starting to wonder :)

I forget who asked many posts ago, but you can check toolbar pr off of www2 if you place the line

216.239.33.100 toolbarqueries.google.com

in you HOSTS file located in your windows directory.

first update/index for me, what a cliffhanger to drop in on your first time. I commented, "Why is Google so great with all of this delay & torture?".

After seeing the results of hard, honest work, NOW I UNDERSTAND; they simply do it best. Thank God I can throttle that AdWord budget below the bankruptcy threshold. Cheers Google!

Well. My site is PR5 and still on www2, but none of my SERPS show up even if the pages are in... is there some form of recalculation process going on after?

Mawashi, BigDave has the right idea. I wouldn't worry about how backlinks appear at this point in the update. They tend to be in flux for a little while until the data is replicated everywhere. mosley700, not sure. Could be that you just need to wait a while for the update. But feel free to do a spam report with your nick, or drop an email to webmaster@google.com about the site.

I don't think so. They penalized sites like mine into oblivion for now reason. From #1 for the search term to... gone. I can't call that a professionally run SE.

mosley700 -

Don't worry just yet. The update has just started. In the past hour, a lot of stuff changed in my listings.

Too much to deal with!

Go get some sleep. :)

GoogleGuy, I will be contacting you. That hurts. I gor a lot of links because I support a lot of communities, and this is killing me. I've worked hard to create a community and this really hurts - how do I explain it to me members? That hurts. I can't say what a shock it is.

mosley700,

Is this something you are just now seeing as of the start of the update? If so, I wouldn't worry. The results will likely be fluctuating very much.

It's better to check your competitors backlinks at this stage. See who is moving up on your keyterms, figure out who their new backlinks are and fire off your "let's be link buddies email."

If some site recently linked to a competitor there is a much better chance they'll also link to you than some random site in your topic area.

Are these serps going to stay this way? I really hope so. It seems Google finally appreciates my web site's content. My sites jumped into the top10 from their obscurity in top100.
Thanks Google! :)

I'm here in Federal Way, Washington. No updates here that I can see. My site still has a PR0. I'm SOOOO new at all of this. Why do everyones pages update at different times?

Also, what is www2 and www3.

Sorry for the stupid questions.

Just changed hosts. Domain's been resolving for 10 days ago. Old site's still up.

Freshbot had been to just 2 (of 10) new pages. Both the current index and the dance show all the old pages (all *.cfm) and just index.html (all *.html) from the new site.

I'd hoped G'bot would have figured out by now. Any suggestions? Time to delete the old stuff or not yet?

Laura,

www2 and www3 are the prefixes for Google's staging servers.

Type into your address bar www2.google.com instead of plain old www.google.com and try your searches.

Better yet, set you search preference sto 100 results and start your search at:
www2.google.com/ie

mosley700, don't slash your wrists yet. Also, is it possible your site was down, or the server glitched, at the moment that Googlebot came around? I had a site drop out of the index for a month due to this, and it came back the next month. If this was a penalty, then you should know about what you did wrong. Getting the Google Death Penalty usually only happens if your site is REALLY dirty, like hidden text, part of a link farm, etc. Google doesn't seem to penalize over trivialities.

Laura,

I checked your backlinks on www3 and you have a few now. You don't have any on just www. I don't know if it will bring up your PR. PR changes usually come toward the end of the update.

a certain "prophp" scripts page ranked above mine on page 4 of "php scripts" SERP shows links from 3 sies which are all indentical and contain nothing more than two links to this "prophp" site with "php scripts" as the text is this spam (possibly bait and switch?)

GoogleGuy should get the day off tomorrow for staying up so late and monitoring the dance start up!

Wow, all the searches on my terms have changes drastically on www3 and2 from just a few minutes ago. I mean 8 out of the top ten on three different terms have all dissappeared.

I realize that the update just started but I have never seen this before. They must have run some sort of filter immidiately.
