:::Let me know how well we crawled your sites..

vBulletin site went from 59 links to 1,870 links thanks to dumping the session ID (over 300 more than I saw the deepcrwal get)!

My other new smaller sites got a total of about 1,000 new links added!

Checking all 8 data centers it seems right before posting this all backlinks to yahoo are same except data center #8 w/ 692k instead of 642k.

Why do people post where they are from if they reference specific data centers? It shoudln't matter, right?

FWIW, I saw some SERP changes in data center 8 compared to the rest earlier.

There is so much traffic going to Santa Clara it's causing routing issues. "We" are taking the 'net down! :-O

Want to give any specifics?

Looks like they don't count for backlinks though.

Well, the good news is that I won't have to drink myself into a coma to ease my misery. I'm the same or better on all key SERPs I checked. And, up from #6 to #4 on the one I have really been lusting after. I was hoping for better. However, I sure prefer this over possible disaster.

Glad it looks good from where you're sitting, Rugles. :)

Jesse_Smith, I hope you'll help me spread the word to avoid session ids--"drop the session ids and get 30x as many pages crawled!" :)

Alphawolf, I think we can handle the traffic. Now if only there were a way to sell ads for "link:www.yahoo.com". :)

Any suggestions for getting more UBB pages indexed? I don't think they have session ids.

I am really freakin out.

My site does not show up at all on www2 or www3. Is it just too early? If I check back links to my site on www I have over 100. If I check back links to my site on www2 or www3, I have none.

Is it just too early for me to be concerned? Man, I was hoping to increase my position this month. I didnt do any spamming techniques, so I am curious what could be happening. Any ideas?

SERP's are showing updated directory categories but the directory does not yet reflect this. Anyone seeing an updated directory anywhere?

GG,

All the datacenters seem more stable now.

When I do a search of my domain name without the www or .com I show 59 listings as opposed to the 39 I had.

That is good. :)

When I do a "link:www.mydomain.com" on www3 I show zero results.

Uh- why is that? I checked and they are all links from PR4+ sites.

This is my sites 2nd full update and I am hoping my links will add a bit of PR to my site.

Do I just need to wait until the dance is more stable or over until the Backlinks will FINALLY show up from the Google Toolbar or "link:www.mydomain.com"?

TIA

AW

skylighter, a lot of things can happen during the update--it can take several days. I definitely wouldn't worry only a few minutes into the update.

kovacs, you are a natural-born marketer. :) geckofuel, why don't you email us your site with some example urls? We'd like to get UBB content if we don't already.

Hey GG -- Before I pull the rest of my hair out (and let me tell you - I've got a ton of it) I wanted to thank ya for stopping in and sticking with the prozac-crowd here...

Thanks!

P.S. Is there a bulk-spam submission tool? ;)

Just take it one at a time, daroz. ;) Mention your nick so we'll know.

AW: my rule of thumb is not to worry about backlinks/toolbar display during an update. If we crawled 50% more pages from your site, we saw links to you just fine. :)

I'm showing same pattern as last month. None of my interior pages show up for any searches. Was hoping to have my penalty lifted. Previously had page rank on main page but Zero on interior pages. This will be the 16th month of maintaining a penalty. Had more pages indexed but they aren't showing up for searches. I wish I knew what the problem was! :(

Woohoo mass improvement. :)

Reasonable improvement on the sluggish "adobe photoshop" 218 -> 176

big improvements on more minor terms:
photoshop tutorials 111 -> 47
adobe photoshop tutorials 48 -> 32
free website templates 37 -> 24

big improvements on main other 2 terms:
web design 164 -> 72
graphic design 148 -> 63

Web design and graphic design are huge terms, but i've hardly got any visitors from them. Now I'm well within reasonable searching range.

Post your update gossip :)

GoogleGuy, a few things you might like to know about DMOZ and this update:

(I'll use my site as an example, but I'm sure this applies to many other sites)

My site was recently switched to a new ODP category, (along with 4 other sites) and with this update, Google is showing the site's in the new category, except when you click on the category listing... the page it gives, is somewhat of a custom error page, I guess google hasn't updated in this sense and here's what it says:

The requested category Arts > Music > Bands and Artists > P > Pink Floyd > Chats and Forums could not be found. It is likely that this category has been moved to another location within the directory.

(hope it's ok to post that ^)

It's started! My new domain now has about 70 pages listed on www2 and www3, still only about 12 on www. But it's happening!

As I believe I may have said a couple of days ago, I didn't think Google's update was a simple "swap the directories and there you go" instantaneous kind of thing, but rather a long propagation process that would take days. For the first time in years I might have been right!

Well best of luck to all of you - we all work hard for reach and frequency, and Google obviously works hard for interest and relevancy.

Google rocks.

Maybe now I can get some sleep...zzz
