is it more advisable to submit web sites to search engines manually rather than using programs like web position gold or AddWeb? I heard that such submissions are often ignored by SE's

What we've pretty much decided here is that automated submission is dead. There just isn't a call for it any more.

- fast, google, ink, wisenut: submit root forget.
- teoma: not sure...
- alta: has the ransom note submission system.

That pretty much sums it up. Where is there you can still use and benefit from programmed submission? no where...
