Is Looksmart really necessary to be included in MSN?
newbie question on SEO

I haven't done any search engine stuff for about a year and a half and everything seems to have changed dramatically. Is it possible to get listed on MSN without paying LookSmart? What about Overture? can I just use Overture and still appear on MSN?

Bobcola,

you can advertise on Overture - and depending on MSN logic - you will be listed in the "sponsored sites". above the directory sites see also:

Looksmart will also get you in, but check the latest threads here (use the "site search" link on top of this page).

Inktomi you pay for every page ($ 25.- per page for more than two)you want included in amongst others MSN's websites listings.

If you do go with the Inktomi option do some research on your keywords and make sure you won't be buried under a bunch of Looksmart listings. Generally speaking if there are more than 10-15 Looksmart listings I see very little traffic from MSN. If you can find some keywords with only a couple Looksmart listings the traffic can be great.
