I recently saw a letter where someone had asked about Inktomi...Would Inktomi drop your site if you didn't pay the fee again. The answer was, "Probably because they have a very small database." So my question is, how does it work for the other search engines? Yahoo

Janine, every engine and directory has it#s own set of rules. With Yahoo.com for example it's annual fees, Lycos is annual, etc. You'll find plenty of info in the respective forums here. For quick info you could check out the engine's sites, they usually are pretty straight forward with their offers.

Janine, if you don't renew your paid pages, those pages will be dropped. It's chancy to see if they'll be picked up again via finding them through a link, I just tried it. So it's best to renew. ineedhits does inktomi also. heini is right, it depends on which one it is, so you'll find a lot doing a site search. For now Looksmart is one-time. When they're annual, you're out when it expires. Added:
Qualifying that a bit - if the pages were worth paying for in some way, it's a good idea to renew. If not, it doesn't pay to bother. I had a couple of pages on a site that did fine but were meaningless - no return on those. I moved them to another couple of URLs and they did fine, so renewing is a good option. Depends on how it does for you.
