Am I going to lose all my listings ?

Due to someone or something - It wasn't me honest :) -changing the file permissions on one of my files, my site has effectively been down for over 2 days. During that time I have been visited by various spiders including slurp, scooter and architext.

In these days of pay for submit, free listings are worth their weight in gold. Am I about to lose all mine ?

I wouldn't worry about it.

If those files were DELETED--and returned the evil "error 404," then I could easily see cause to panic.

But a permission error is a weird kind of problem, most search engines would take an attitude of 'try again later.' I would imagine they handle it as if the site was unreachable.

They _should_ return. They usually check 4-5 times before nuking a url.
