Over 100 but under a 1000
enough that I stopped counting :)
No real idea but I would guess around 800-1000
40 - 50
Several of those are "sets" acquired for brand protection - matching dot-com/dot-net/dot-org, for example, or predictable typos.
Mostly .com's. A good portion of them relative to the SEO and Internet Marketing Industry.
About 30. Our brands x the various main suffixes. The rest are keyword related to our brands.
about 30, including a couple of sets of .com/.net/co.uk etc
it's a shame i don't have time to develop the sites for some of the other domains .... just released about 20 low priority domains because i have no hope of developing them at all.
I lost track after 200, or was it 300. I know it is under 500.
More than I really need,
less than I want.
But then the real question is not "How many domains do you own?", rather "How many domains own you?"
I only own 3, and none of them make money! Of course I havent gotten to the point of wanting to make money with any of them yet.
But that's not a minority position either.
own: too many.
Use: around 200
|...rather "How many domains own you?" |
Well said Woz.
I own 500+ but only 5% of those own me...
3214 for 1056 sites and still counting.
oOoo sorry make my domain count 13 :) Forgot one of them just got the expiration notice today.
Own = 19
Currently using = 1
LOL... I have plans...

A colossal - 3
May buy another 10 just for feel-good factor? :)
I'm guessing about 20 by the end of the year, then after that - to spiral out of control ;)
Oh, about 30 or 40, every one of them inspired by a fantastic idea, about 3 of which came to anything. :)
I just don't understand why I continue to pay yearly fees on over 200 domains. What is it that attracts me to them? Why do I continue to purchase knowing darn well that I will probably never use them.
We talk about being addicted to Webmaster World, what about being addicted to domains? Oh, I think I need a fix, quick, let me see if its available...
We're domain addicts!
I think that we are all in the same boat... Once you buy a domain name you dont want to let it go even if you know you will probaly never use it... I think it's just the thought of someone else registering it and making their millions from "your name" ... scary thought!
I own 350 and use every one....about 100 updated twice a month, about 100 updated monthly and the rest are updated when the mood strikes.
They all pay for themselves.
I own 26
4 active independant sites.
6 set up as server side re-directs.
The rest are for sale, or there for the day I have enough free time to build another site.
Own 3: 1 is active, 2 in development.
I own 2.
The first is my real name (eg www.firstlast.com) and although I do use it I have dreams of doing far more intersting things there.
The second is not in use, it's for an idea that will one day make money for charity. So I really should get around to developing it some time soon.
I'm not addicted (yet), I don't buy a new domain name unless I have real intentions of doing something with it (either developing it myself or selling it for a small profit).
Maybe this should be the start of a new thread - If you own more domains than you develop, do you feel guilty about it? I think registrars should monitor domains that are registered, and if nothing is done to them in a year the owner shouldn't be allowed to renew it. Think if Microsoft or some other rich company could trademark every decent company/product name and no one else could use the same name...
I admit that I am also guilty of this, although only with one site. Think of how many more quality websites we could find if there were no squatters...
Go for it, Start a new thread. I will reply there.
