Redirecting to another domain
How to replace www.sitea.com/dir to www.siteb/dir?

We registered a new domain for the site. We could not do that before because it was not free. So we used another domain name. Still now links to the previous name should be removed.

It is easy to replace all explicit links within site files, but I wish that any external link, for example www.oldname.com/dir/file.html, would cause to dounload this file: www.newname.com/dir/file.html.

The site is run on Apache web-server. Is there any way to redirect the user to a new url?

A good thread here: redirecting a large site with .htaccess [webmasterworld.com]

Thank you. But that thread covers the usage of mode_rewrite module. I do not want to use it. (
