I personally use ARIN's whois: [arin.net...] Their search instructions are kinda cryptic though... type a ? in their search box to see them.

Thanks Mivox, Unfortunately Arin's database doesn't include domain info... I'm looking for a domain name whois that is searchable by registrant info..

I use METADOG WHOIS [metadog.com...] it is very useful because you can search regional dominions too (.it or .de etc.)

Thanks Angiolo, looks like they have a good database but you can't search by registrant name... Has anybody seen a whois besides NetworkSolutions that allows you to search by registrant name?

Well, NS isn't exactly renown for protecting the privacy of its customer data...
