These registrars want to charge $15 for preregistration of a name and if you get it themn they charge $49 more plus whatever the official rate will be. Don't think I'm going to pay them to "reserve" my name. Anyone heard anything about this. They did agree is spirit with the new TLD's, but they didn't decide on which ones or how registration was going to take place. Icann (http://www.icann.org [icann.org]) hasn't met since June. Their next meeting to decide the fate of the new TLD's is November 13-16 [icann.org] in Marina del Rey California (usa). You can read back through some of the info on their excellent announcements [icann.org] page. Until they meet again, I would be suspicous of people selling the new tld's.

It seems these guys are trying to capitalize on the "maybe's of this" I had heard about the June meetings, but then lost track in the last couple of months. These guys seem a bit seedy and I advised my clients to hold off on this. Thanks for the confirmation.
