I think you're right that porn on the .com would cause headaches for other tld's of the same name. But if it's a really, reeeeeally good name for what you'd like to do, don't give up too easily. Consider grabbing the .co.uk domain while it's available, then hold your nose and see if you could negotiate to buy the .com domain. You'd need to ponder whether the .com's history would cause lasting negative effects that you couldn't overcome, though. If that doesn't work, then yes, it's back to the drawing boards.

Prepare to get held up. Seriously, unless you've got some serious cash behind you a porn operater won't hesitate to gauge you if she or he knows you need his domain. Try to buy the .com first and then get the co.uk.

If I am in your place, then I will give up and register some other domain. There are lot of variations available. Why you want a porn site behind you?

Most likely the porn webmaster will sale you the domain if you offer the proper amount.

| I strongly disagree with that. What if someone else registered the .co.uk in the meantime? It would be stupid to think about trying to get the .com only to let the .co.uk slip through his fingers. It's available now, he should grab it now. If he ended up not using it because he couldn't get control of the .com, the loss would be small.
