How about the domain name starting with "1st"? ontheway msg:680710 5:19 am on May 8, 2001 (gmt 0) How about the domain name starting with "1st"(such as 1stnewsite.com)? I wonder if some search engines and directories will look it as boast and then reject it. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to WmW, ontheway. I've not heard of any problems with 1st or AAA, etc. leading a domain name. eljefe3 msg:680712 2:51 pm on May 8, 2001 (gmt 0)
..And as a matter of fact, if you look at real competitive categories in the directories, many start with 1st, or #1 and the latest I've seen is ! Michaelangelo msg:680713 7:59 am on May 10, 2001 (gmt 0)
many directories (including Yahoo) use alphabetical order when listing sites in a category...so anything beginning w/ 1 or A is a good choice.

Although these choices will certainly help you attain higher positions within "drill down" categories, it is also important to consider how your URL will appear to potential clients. Some look very dubious at best :) ontheway msg:680715 6:12 pm on May 10, 2001 (gmt 0)
