I go to domains.com and try and register a new name...if registered I click on the little magnifying glass, and it shows who owns it.

Tedster, when in doubt, I toddle on over the whois.net or good 'ol networksolutions.com (NSI). I don't register throught NSI but I find when I register a domain with another registrar and check immediately with NSI my new domain correctly comes up as unavailable. Love 'em or hate 'em they do seem to have it together when a domain is unavailable; sometimes TOO together! Onya Woz

Do you have VisualRoute? You can get the info from both whois.networksolutions.com whois.arin.net

Oh Mike comes through again. I thought I'd seen every last whois on the net. That's a killer find.

Mike, you da man! Even NIS was out to lunch on this domain. Your resource is the first one that actually had the info -- and the domain my client wants is owned by a reseller (I wonder, is this good news or bad news?) Thanks for my new bookmark.
