Things to do with that vacant domain.
When you just buy a domain name because...

Domains were and are now the hot thing on the 'Net. Finding that perfect domain name or a name with a high PR that expired is a goal to many.

What I've seen over the past few years have been tens of thousands of empty pages with references such as coming soon or the dreaded 404. Instead of having the domain name sit there put it to work.

'I don't have time to create a new site' bah, put the site to work. Here's the quick way to have something on it and have it pick up by itself.

Each time you pick a domain name you have a idea what the site will be like, the topics of the site and what can be shared from it. Sure you may want to have it make a million dollars - but since you're too busy why not atleast get it found on the search engines and bring in traffic.

Thousands of sites on the Internet are setup within seconds offering a full line of features by utilizing software that can be installed in seconds utilizing databases and advanced web programming languages.

Message Board - With a million different choices on the market I found phpBB2 to be the quickest setup and offer the most functions. Once configured simply login with to the administrator site from your browser and setup the topics you wish to be discussed. Draw up a quick logo image for the board, if you do not have those photoshop skills try cooltext [cooltext.com] which will render images from a webpage with special effects(not always functional though). Post a few threads, change the meta tags and submit to the engines.

News Posting sites are also another popular solution. Dozens of people utilize the geeklog system or blogs, but I prefer PHP-Nuke. I say this because unlike the other sites where the webmaster has to login and post news you can rely on the user posting news and you just allowing it on the front page with a single click. From there users can reply to that message and discussion threads are started. This software offers so much more, if you don't want actual news on the front page click on the administrator part and change it to discussion or links. There is so much this software offers built in its amazing. And it's free, both of the software.

No matter what you do with the domain atleast put it to work for you, I've purchased so many domains that I have 'plans' for that I kept renewing even though I had nothing on it. I put this up for the time being and now theres traffic, people are talking and the search engines are enjoying it.

If you utilize this software make sure you check back to the site for updates - You want to be sure like any other software that security issues havnt occured and fixes that have been issued are properly applied.
