I've seen posts about this topic in the past... but I am still not sure on which file is edited in order to have a domain point to a directory such as
www.my--foo.com
points to
/home/me/public_html/foo/

I am on a virtual server account, is this something I will have to take up with my web host (westhost) or can I do it myself somehow? I'm guessing that I'll have to ask my host... wonder how much they'll charge. Thanks for any hints!

Right, it is a server config issue physics. They'll have to edit the conf file/virt host file for the new domain.
