X-cart question(s)
xcart help

 1:39 am on Mar 15, 2006 (gmt 0)

i've recently purchased Xcart software through ebay, i've installed it and now i'm having some running problems. one thing i've noticed is that if a member is signing up for a certain membership i (the admin) has to approve it before the member can use the membership functions. My question: is there a way i can set it so it automaticly approves memberships?

i'm also getting this error

i get this error come up when a customer
uses the signup function or when any mailing function is used:

Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 554 : Recipient address
rejected: Relay access denied in
\\nas22ent\domains\s\domain.com\user\htdocs\include\func.php on line 258

another error

Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 554 Error: no valid recipients
\\nas22ent\domains\s\domain.com\user\htdocs\include\func.php on line 258

Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 554 : Recipient address
rejected: Relay access denied in
\\nas22ent\domains\s\domain.com\user\htdocs\include\func.php on line 258
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at
\\nas22ent\domains\s\domain.com\user\htdocs\include\func.php: in
\\nas22ent\domains\s\domain.com\user\htdocs\include\func.php on line 181

is this something wrong with my xcart settings? or server settings?

lastly, i find when a customer/admin is logged in they just log out for no apparent reason. does anyone know how i can go about fixing these problems?

thanks in advanced

Chances are your default SMTP server is not configured to allow locally hosted domains to freely send emails.

Send the code from that function to your hosting support and see if they can recommend a better way to do this. The xcart function uses the vanila php mail function call.

If this is a legit copy, I strongly recommend registering and posting on their forums -- they have top notch peer support for xcart in their forums.

>> automaticly approves membership

Nope. On the X-Cart forums there is a hack that you can add that will automatically approve memberships. It's a simple edit to a query string as I recall.

Sounds like you've been conned and sold an illegal copy of X-Cart. Report the seller to eBay and ask for a refund.

It depends upon the version you've got but somewhere in /include/register.php, on or about line 470 you'll find something that looks like:

db_query("INSERT INTO $sql_tbl[customers]

This is the insert query for adding new members to the database. In the VALUES line I simply changed @$membership to @$pending_membership

Re: license. If you try to run the store live without the license you're likely to get some nasty emails from the X-Cart folks because the cart has a built in license checker.

is there any other setting i have to change because i've tryed replacing the text but i still find i have to (the admin) have to apporove through admin section.

all help appreciated

P.S how would i buy a licence key? and how much are they?

Your best bet would be to buy a legitimate copy of the cart. It's only $200 for the Gold edition and for what it offers you it's worth it - especially when you factor in your time trying to work with the unlicensed version. :)

Re: the code - that's the code I'm using on one of my X-Cart installs so I don't know what else to tell you other than be sure you're in the right query. That code was used on a 4.0.17 install.

I would go to X-Cart.com and contact them, come clean to them and explain the situation that you have been misled into buying a pirate copy of the product, provide them with all the details of the seller and let them follow it up with eBay, see if you can get your money back, did you pay by PayPal? You never know but X-Cart might be sympathetic and offer you a discount on the normal price for your honesty and for helping them stop further pirate copies of their property being sold.

Just my 2 cents.
