It can take several weeks for google to even add your homepage to its index, and many months for all your pages to appear in its index. All you can do is submit your URL to google (once is sufficient) and wait...

cheap and effective advertising methods?- not normally mentioned in the same sentence but how about handing out flyers to your target audience?

If you have no links going to your website then that is the reason your not showing up in google. You can submit until your face turns blue and you might never show up in google. Get some links!

You don't need links to be indexed. Relevant backlinks might well speed up the process of indexing, but with google's sandbox, you are probably still unlikely to see anything for months.
