How to Get Links

5+ Year Member

Msg#: 4209 posted 4:16 pm on Aug 26, 2005 (gmt 0)

I am new to e-commerce. I have been live for a few weeks now. Have set up an adwords campaign, and would now like to move onto establishing "LINKS"
I would appreciate any advise on how to start the process.

Thank you for all your HELP!

Spend some time surfing the web and look for other high-quality sites that complement your business or service and that have a "links" page. Write a short personalized e-mail requesting link exchange and you'll probably be surprised at the results.

Figure out who your biggest competitors are and make a list of all the places that have links to them, then go about getting your site listed there also. You can use Google or most of the other major search engines to see a list of pages that link to a particular site - the Google toolbar will do it for you automatically (look under the blue "i" button).

Also look at your competitors' "links" pages and see who they provide links to; there are probably sites that you'd like to link to and have links from in those lists.

Of course, you need to set up your own "links" page; nobody will give you a link without your reciprocal link back to them. If you don't know what ele to do, seed your link page with links to manufacturers of the items you sell, or maybe to good "index" sites related to your business. And of course you'll want to get yourself listed on as many of those index sites as possible, provided they're actually *useful* sites -- so many of those kinds of sites today are nothing but cruddy link farms and PPC ad affiliates that you don't want to be associated with.
