I have been kicking around the idea of opening up a wholesale division for a long time. I don't know if it will be worth the hassle of building a b2b site and the cost of promoting it. I buy direct from manufacturers, so there is definitely room for wholesale prices at my current buying levels....I just don't want to put in all the work and not have it be worth it.
Has anybody else gone from just offering retail products to offering retail and wholesale products? Was it worth the hassle?
If you are going wholesale, you will need to provide credit terms, or else they will go the competition. You will then need a credit department, and collection department (or wear several more hats if you are solo).
