Getting Traffic seems difficult
I think less popularity is the problem

Hi everyone,
I've got a site that deals with rating java applications for free. I've read in several articles to build up a good search engine rank. I tried that and got a PR 5 within 4 months of operation, which i hope is good. However the traffic to the site has been low, only about 100 pageviews and about 20 visitors everyday. I think that the popularity of the site is very less amongst the java community. I need ideas to make it more popular to them (at minimal cost, coz the site dosent intend to make money or give out in chunks).

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld shashank_hi.

There are a quite a few threads on building traffic here. A bit of reading will go a long way towards helping you. ;) Perhaps these for starters [google.com].

PR 5

4 months of operation

Since you keep mentioning PR, I assume you are focusing on Google.

What year were these articles written? Did any of the articles mention the difficulty of getting new sites to rank well in Google?

Getting rank on google was not the principle of my question, but well, if it helps getting a good traffic, who minds it. I just wanted to refer that I suppose a good PR (if pr 5 is good) also hasnt helped me get a good traffic. :(

when I mentioned ranking I wasnt talking about page rank but pure rank.

i.e at what number do you appear for your search term
