I'm using Miva shopping cart and frankly I think it's TERRIBLE! Are there any other shopping carts out there that are easier to use?

First check with what server side language that your hosting company supports. Or you might check around for other hosting companies that offer / support something else other than Miva

Bubzeebub, I don't like Miva either. :)

ClickCartPro is nice, you may need some help getting it installed.

Also getting ready to install X-Cart on a site.

A lot will depend on your hosting set-up, your level of comfort installing/tweaking things, and your specific requirements for the cart.

the other question is which processor.
assumming you are going to use a third party merchant account which will you choose?

I find the lenght of the list daunting and they all have their share of horror stories!

osCommerce is not an easy cart to wrap your head around as a first timer. While it can be made into a nice cart it does take some getting used to and many mods to make it into what you want.

ekmpowershop is very easy to use, even my young sister (11 years old) can use it.

Its a online system so all the hard work of installing and maintaining it is taken care of for you.

What do you mean by easy to use? Some carts are easy to set-up (such as OsCommerce and Agora using CPanel), but hard to customize (such as OsCommerce and Agora!)

Actually, once you get the hang of it, Agora is easy to customize - steep learning curve, though.

Depending on your need, a paypal shopping cart is pretty easy.

Webgenie is easy to install and customise it all so accepts all teh major 3rd party payment processors and comes with an unlimited license.

which means you may set up any number of stores with just one purchase.

A very simple easy javascript cart that can be customised and is free can be seen at nopdesign.com/freecart/

I have no affiliation with the cart, just found it easy to use. The demo is in a frameset, which is not required to use the cart.
