Payments from Multiple countries
Prices in one currency or different prices for different countries?

Im presently building a classifieds site targeting all countries but mainly US,UK, Canada, Aus, NZ.

Should I have ...
1. fixed prices in one currency (eg US dollars)?
2. or variable prices that depend on which country payment is from? (eg price for US customers US$150 but for those in Australia AU$120).

Obviously one currency would be easier but I will have separate pages for each country .... and know that having prices in US may deter ads from australia etc

Looking at using authorize.net

Can anyone suggest best approach? Thanks.

Try having a link to a currency converter site (xe.com for example). So you show the price in $$ and next to it a link that brings up a popup with the price in whatever currency...

Remember that if you show prices in other currencies you should have a disclaimer pointing out that "currency values may fluctuate... prices orientative only"

Thanks ...hadnt thought of that.

The other issue I have though is price differentials between ads. If I charge say 100 pounds to UK customers that equates to about 280 australian dollars which most australians would baulk at.

Is it smart to charge 100 pounds in UK and say 150 in aus dollars for the same thing?

It would be dangerous, but your trick could be to offer "special discounts" or promotions for some countries (the "base price" would be the same)
