To facilitate the graphic layout of a clients home page I've used the hide/show layers to make text appear when you mouse over certain images. Will these layers be indexed by most search engines or will the be ignored because they are set as "hidden" to start with?

I have this kind of DHTML on several pages, and the text IS indexed by most engines. Just to insure those rankings against any possible misundertandings, I have the CSS and JavaScript in external files.

As an additional help to the spiders, and since these divs with the mouseOver text are absolutely positioned on the sites I'm talking about, I bumped the code for those divs up to the top of the HTML document. Every little edge that might help, you know.

Thanks. I already did the little thing of moving text laden divs to the top. But was unsure of the hidden layer due to the possibility of misuse by spammers.
