how to open IE without toolbar and with specific size?

i am trying to open up an IE window without the toolbar and with specific size...i've tried javascript with windows.open() but when i try to automatically close the parent window, i get a prompt which i dont want to see, i want this to be automatic without the user noticing...

any suggestions?

Welcome to the Webmaster World forums, chudy.

There is a security restriction in Javascript, which only allows automatic closing of windows that were opened with JavaScript. In all other cases, you can't avoid the alert window that asks the user to confirm the window closing.

thanks for the warm welcome and very quick reply :)....
it seems like I will have to approach this problem in some other manner....
so if this doesnt work are there any parameters I can use (shortcut maybe, command line params) to create an IE window without toolbars, just the borders?

I am working on a c++ launcher that will launch IE and create a child window and then kill the parent but that seems like overkill

will keep you posted in case anyone else is interested....
