Linking to an Illustrator file from a web page
I'm losing my mind

I've been trying to make this work for hours. It seems like it should be so simple! I want to place a link on a page for a user to download a template made in Illustrator. I want it to download as an .ai file. When I link to the file and then try to download it, it wants to save as a .ps file, like so:
[alexbennert.com...]

I found someone else successfully doing this here:
[discpress.com...] (download the very first Illustrator file listed).

But I don't see anything unusual in his code. S/he is just linking to the .ai file and it works fine.

Help?

Hi Abe, it appears you server isn't sending the right mime type:

+++GET 1+++
GET /download/cd_r.ai HTTP/1.0
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.71 (Windows 98;US) Opera 3.62 [en]
Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/png, */*
Host: alexbennert.com

+++RESP 1+++
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0

It is sending postscript instead of octet-stream:

+++GET 18+++
GET /support/download/files/traycardinsert.ai HTTP/1.0

Referer: [discpress.com...]

I'd ask tech support at your host.
