Trying to snag CJ defectors?

Less than 24 hours after CJ's announcement of their changes [webmasterworld.com], LinkShare fires off an email (sent June 2) :

May 31, 2001

Dear LinkShare Merchants and Affiliates:

We are pleased to report that the LinkShare Network(r) continues to thrive
even in today's challenging market environment.

The mail goes on to tell about how they received additional funding recently from Mitsui & Co. (USA), Inc. and tells about all of their "key accomplishments" so far this year.

I think the timing of this is interesting, but who can blame them.

I don't really see much in this letter, however. There is no mention of the amount of the recent funding. Lots of good-sounding comments, but where's the beef? Merchant payment history is a good idea, but not well implemented, and not accurate for my account. The *new* payment report is a long time overdue, at least it is working.

Another excerpt:
Like most companies, LinkShare has been affected by current economic
trends. However, we remain committed to achieving profitability in the
2001 calendar year. As a result, a recent assessment of both our
revenues and expenses has led to a variety of cost containment
initiatives, including a staff reduction on May 24.

Interesting comments at the site AKA "The Dot-com Deadpool."

Everything dried up for me at LS, and I haven't looked back lately.
Anyone still getting decent results from LS programs, and still being paid?
