A couple of questions before I dive in: 1. Has any first timers negotiated their initial Setup Fees and Deposits down? They are non-negotiable I am guessing? 2. Any chance that my space, a very profitable space for us, but not a profitable space for the vast majority of ppl that have sites in this sector, be shortsighted by affiliates because they simply have BETTER products to promote in terms of what they will make?

I can give you an answer for #1: Since Valueclick's purchase of Befree and Cj, their set up prices are non negotiable. You can negotiate other things like cost of non joined publishers to your affiliate program, etc.
