How true. It's about time the FTC stepped in to start cleaning up this mess. Too bad they can't go after all the companies that offered something free, and then went out of business, though.
The one I hate the most is mentioned as well: ...promising free or low-cost PCs but failed to mention the full costs of the deals. Three-year Internet contracts costing up to $800 were part of the "bargain."
I can't remember how many times I had to explain the details of this "bargain" to friends and relatives buying new PCs.
