How to get product reviewed?
Advice needed

 4:35 am on Mar 6, 2004 (gmt 0)

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie in online marketing, and I need your advise.

I run a website, and I am looking for ways to improve my ROI. One of the ways I see is adding product reviews from experts.

I see that many my competitors have reviews of their products on their websites.

So I was wondering how people usually go around it. I mean, should I mention that I am willing to pay for this in my message to a potential reviewer? How should I ask for a review?

Sorry for these questions. I just don't know how to approach someone whom I want to ask to review my product.

Thanks as always for your advices and shared experience.

I wouldn't recommend it. Reviews - unlike advertising copy - are supposed to be impartial assessments. If word gets out that you've paid for a product review it will damage your reputation and that of the company who did the reviewing.

Why not contact a couple of publications which cover your field and ask them to include your product in their next comparative review of competing products?

Thanks for your response. I will try that.

You should also contact potential review sites/publications offering to send a sample copy of the product.

The very top tier of reviewers probably don't want or expect you to provide a free copy, but for most publications money has to be considered a factor.
