Online pharmacy affiliate programs are really feeling the heat. The DEA is taking a very aggressive stance [deadiversion.usdoj.gov] as to how medications are prescribed and as a result we have seen some of the major pharmacy programs shut down. Play at your own risk.

I think the future of online pharmacies is pretty shakey. There is a battle going on with big companies like drugstore.com and also the DEA trying to close down the industry. Reciently it came out that the chairman of a congressional committee overlooking the pharmacy and medication business was on the payroll of CVS (a BIG brick and morter pharmacy). This business is being closed down so greedy big business can keep all the profits for themselves. Too bad, but at least there are other areas where affiliats can still make good money.

Problem with online pharmacies is the types of drugs they usually advertise: Vicodin, Oxycontin, Xanax and other substances that have a big propensity for abuse. With all the hype give to Rush Limbaugh's addiction to painkillers, the online pharmacy biz is probably going to be either killed or heavily regulated. Regards, Harry Lime

There is a huge future for online pharmacies - just not in the current form they are operating in. Prescriptions based soley on an online consultation are quickly fading away. There are many Online Pharmacies that are already working to put new systems in place to ensure legality. If you do decide to market for pharm, I would stay away from controlled substances (unless you live abroad) as this is where the dea is involved in criminal actions against pharmacies.

Very interesting post especially the part of "the chairman of a congressional committee overlooking the pharmacy and medication business was on the payroll of CVS (a BIG brick and morter pharmacy). " Makes me sick to think big biz like CVS/Walgreens is trying to stop businesses online if they are ligit.
