Teoma updated and everything changed
I am wondering if the free listings got bumped

 7:43 pm on Mar 12, 2002 (gmt 0)

I have been at #6 for a while for my top keyword and suddenly I got dropped to page 5. All other websites except one disappeared from the first page on that SERP during this update and I wonder if they were also free listings.

Either way, the algorithm has drastically changed.

Yes, it changed some. If anything it appears they added a dose of clickpop and seasoned it with some authority keywords... makes for a kind of strange mix on my SERP. In my case, plenty of free listings remain.

What do you mean 'Authority Keywords'?

Looks like they increased the importance of exact phrase matches. If you search for "green widgets", then pages that only contain the phrase "green fuzzy widgets" will be ranked lower than those that contain exactly the sequence "green widgets". I don't think they did this to the same extent in the past.

In my categories:
Chamber of Commerce, University of, City of, Town of, County of

It's hard to say if Teoma is really using a true authority and hub site determination or faking it with a short list of authority keywords. Given a new entry into the top 10 on my SERP, it looks like they may be taking a shortcut. (Relatively new "County of" site in this update)
