Thanks Bill - thats news to me. Darn, just when we were getting some great traffic out of DH too. That will about scratch AJ for the time being for us. Time to get serious about Teoma...

That's a shame. It was a nice place to get some sleeper traffic.

Was DH responsible for click pop at MSN? If so what now?

>will about scratch AJ for the time being What is the purpose of AJ being in the logs almost constantly lately?

Look at it this way, if DH is dumped, then MSN will no longer be able to promote it's Overture listings as "Top Ten Most Popular"

I have to admit I've become a DH convert over the last year. I thought it was a really dumb idea when it first came about. Funny how mass referrals have a way of softening view points.

I still think it is a dumb idea, click pop is too easy to fake, but I will miss the traffic.

I think that what the article was saying is that the DH site was going to close, but the technology would live on...so it sounded to me like the DH technology leased to places like MSN and others might still be around even after the DH site closes down.

That's it, close a site that's driving traffic. Same thing happened to Excite.

Dumb idea marketed brilliantly! Am sure that the exec management who came up with it and cleared out before investors started asking tough questions are laughing right now! Im a bit torn on this one! Anything thats fresh and new and provides us with an opportunity to get new pages in regulary, I applaud (Teoma) But, weve got some old stallwart listings which have been fantastic in terms of providing traffic with little or no ongoing effort -Ill miss these!

It's my opinion hat DH will close the moment Teoma goes Alpha.

I wonder about this.. and what they mean by 'close'. I guess that they may possibly stick a copy of Teoma on there... or some other Teoma interface (being optimistic)? That would be nice, but maybe more it's more likely that a re-direct to AJ will be put there. I can't see them just writing off a steady stream of visitors to www.directhit.com.... it's just a question of what they do to that site.

I guess now I don't have to stop by DH on a daily basis to click on my own site to increase its popularity. Lawman

I'm really surprised that AJ can't make DH work. They are getting income from: Comet, MSN, Hotbot/lycos, at&t, a couple meta engines, 7search. Yes hunter, traffic talks. Most of my sites averaging 4-5 hundred a day, with one doing 2400 per day from DH. It was the reason this subboard exits.

DirectHit gave me decent amount of traffic, I never had a hard time getting in it - before I even stepped into the realms of search engine placement my site was already @ the top in many engines. Before I even learned about SEO type stuff, before I knew HTML i just viewed the source to other peoples sites, someone had meta stuff i copied it over and changed their words about dogs to whatever the site i was designing. :) Hope to see the DH site pull it off this year and keep kicking.
