Will Ask ever list me?
cant seem to get listed on ask or hotbot

 5:55 pm on Dec 1, 2003 (gmt 0)

my website is listed on google, yahoo, alltheweb, excite, alexa and i get many first page hits on all some #1 positions for various keywords relating to my site.

For some reason I cant seem to get listed on ask or hotbot, will they ever catch on and include me? Or is there something im missing here?

Any suggestions on how to get listed without using PFI would be much appreciated.

getting listed in the ODP is always a good start to free-bie listings in any engine that is a candidate's for free listing.

A lot of webmasters think that there are many routes to free inclusion in Teoma, and Ink (Hotbot) - though for brand new site's, i think patience is a very long term virtue regarding this approach.

i am listed in the odp, my site is about 6-8 months old.

I've noticed that both ask and inktomi (which powers hotbot) are very slow at picking up new sites. I suspect it's because they want to see if you'll pay for inclusion. On one site my patience broke down after 6 months and I paid. Otherwise expect to wait 8 - 10 months after you get your directory listings.
